One of Melbourne’s most beloved small trees, Cercis chinensis ‘Forest Pansy’ is a striking rounded tree to 5m by 5m. In late winter clusters of bright pink buds develop along the stems which at the start of spring burst open to reveal deep rose-pink pea flowers. Later large dark purple, heart shaped leaves emerge which over the summer moths fade to a purple green colour. In Autumn foliage turns brilliant red, orange and gold colours. Best grown with regular moisture and protection from harsh sun.
